I have somewhat complex thoughts about this tour. I’m happy we did it as we got to see some really impressive areas we wouldn’t have otherwise experienced, but there were parts that made the tour a little less enjoyable for the amount we paid for it. We were told many times to “try to stick together” and keep our eyes on the Santa (a toy/decorative lit up Santa on a racket the tour guide would hold up for us to see), but this was almost impossible to do. The Dyker Heights area specifically was incredibly busy, and despite listening very carefully to directions and trying my best to keep track of the host, we lost her many times. She often would get what we could find of the group together and show us where to cross the street, and then would tell us to keep going while walking back to another area. I felt like I couldn’t stop to take as many photos as I wanted or purchase any of the snacks/hot chocolate from the houses she suggested beforehand as I was afraid we’d get lost from the group. There were many times we’d get to a street intersection m and look around for the guide, and couldn’t find her at all. There were lots of, “now where do we go?” questions from many of the people attending the tour. By the end, we were with a few people from our group, but definitely not the host. She told us where the meeting point would be in case we got separated, and I’m very happy I put that in my phone or otherwise would’ve been lost. She played Christmas music on the bus on the way back, and the speaker system was so loud right next to us; she then started singing along to the music with the mic, and it was even louder. I promise I’m a fairly flexible, laid back kind of person, but these things made the experience not as enjoyable. The driver, Johnny, was excellent, and I felt very safe in his care. So, again, I’m still happy I did the tour. If you’re okay with some disorganization and just want a ride around to see some cool lights, then this will be just fine. The places we went were really great, and I highly recommend doing some sort of tour to see these amazing displays. But, if you’re at all Type A, this specific tour may be a little frustrating for you.

This was a very good excursion. Our guide Alan was very informative about the history of the area and the history of the lights. All in all a very well run excursion. Would recommend.

Overall, the tour was good. Our transport and our tour guide were outstanding. Was underwhelmed by Dyker Heights. The photos you see of the over the top decorations consist of maybe 4 houses. Many more houses are festive and decorated with beautiful light displays but I probably wouldn’t pay to go on a tour to see them again.

It was a cold snowy night. Dress appropriately. Our tour guide Mo was delightful, very attentive to our needs, knowledgeable, kind soul.

Everything was smooth and efficient! Enough time to walk around the 3 stops and easy to follow and entertaining tour guide (Lou Lou) and kind driver (Johnny). Hot chocolate and snacks are available for purchase near some of the houses (usually the owners selling) but make sure you keep track of where tour guide is as there are many tours happening (ours was holding a light up Santa to track!). Took about 3 1/2 hours and meeting and drop off places were easy and convenient. Good opportunity to see outside of Manhattan and some new sights!

Ed was a really good guide. Made the trip much more enjoyable. He was so knowledgeable in the history of all things Dyker Heights and NYC in general.

It's a lot of walking on slightly inclined roads. We had 3 in our party with mild handicapscwith knees and it was hard to finish but everyone pushed through. There are no benches to rest on. Very crowded. The pick up point was in a high traffic area so we spent a lot of time jammed up in the starting point. The houses were amazing. So, if you love Christmas it's a must do but consider the walking for long periods on terrain that may cause falls.
